The startups giving creators a leg-up
As creators shift their focus towards cultivating community via more intimate online and offline spaces, rather than depending solely on traditional social media platforms, emerging start-ups in the creator economy and consumer-tech sectors are assisting creators to monetize from their audience.
The landscape of being a creator is ever-changing and the most innovative of creators are harnessing their audiences as a community, fostering more loyalty through additional content or even merchandise in a non-intrusive manner that deepens connections. James Louderback, creator economy expert and former Vidcon CEO, puts it quite clearly - “If you want to become a sustainable creator, you can’t just rely on AdSense anymore”.
Yet community building is one of the most difficult of marketing objectives, and that’s where these startups come in - to facilitate that gap. View list of startups!
As AI takes a meteoric rise in its development, creators are now presented with a host of tools allowing you to do more with less time. Take editing, script writing or generative AI to compose images for you. However, authenticity and disclosure have emerged as particular pain points during this immense transition and EU and US policy spheres are preparing heavy regulatory review.
Franklin Graves (author of ‘Creative Economy Law’), Jill Schiefelbein (Render Media) and Nick Seeber (Deloitte LLP) spoke on how these changes will affect the creative economy:
Regulations will be wide-ranging and are expected to be implemented across platforms and tech companies.
The EU is focusing particularly on data safety, protecting people from information such as data health or sexuality becoming publicly accessible.
Biden’s regulations are heralded as a declaration of content and creator rights.
Progress will be slow at first, reminiscent of the internet’s early days and getting the likes of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act in motion.
Regulation approach will focus on maintaining a balance on innovation, not hindering progress as a society.
In it’s Trend Talk edition for 2024, Instagram shared the results of a sweeping survey for Gen Z audiences across the world and the findings are quite interesting…
Fragrance creators will emerge, with ¼ of Gen Z audiences expressing interest in developing their own signature scent.
Meaningful connections are of greater priority. Expect less posts from ordinary day-to-day life and more feeds dominated by creators paid to entertain you.
With ‘core’ aesthetics dominating fashion discourse, buying clothes will now more than ever depend on what makes you feel good.
