Airchat, touted as a "social walkie-talkie" platform, is swiftly gaining attention in the tech and creator economy sectors. Co-founded by Naval Ravikant and Brian Norgard, Airchat initially launched in 2023 with modest interest but recently relaunched in April, experiencing a surge in popularity.

Positioned between Clubhouse and X, Airchat's audio-focused format is drawing interest from Silicon Valley insiders, tech journalists, and even public figures like former congressman George Santos. The app's invite-only status and dedicated channels, such as "Creators," featuring industry figures like Eric Wei and Lia Haberman, are contributing to its rapid growth.

With over 30,000 downloads since its recent relaunch and climbing to No. 29 on the Apple App Store charts, Airchat is proving to be a contender in the ever-evolving landscape of social media platforms. According to experts, its less "spammy" atmosphere compared to previous contenders like Clubhouse could contribute to its longevity. Will we have another social media platform to knock up for our updates section or will this get the BeReal treatment? Only time will tell…

Virtual influencers - the future or passing trend?

In today's social media world, virtual influencers are becoming as popular as real-life ones. These digital personalities, created using advanced technology, share posts and partner with big brands, just like human influencers. The only difference? They don't exist in the real world.

But are virtual influencers here to stay, or are they just a passing trend? Brands are exploring the possibilities, considering factors like control over content and the ability to reach diverse audiences. Some brands even create their own virtual influencers, like Magalu's Lu.

Virtual influencers work like regular ones, interacting with followers and promoting products. They offer brands unique advantages like control over content, adaptability, and consistency. However, there are also challenges, like ensuring transparency and managing audience sentiment. As this trend grows, brands must carefully navigate the opportunities and risks of virtual influencer marketing. Will they pose a risk to real creators or will it be just 15 minutes of fame? Only time will tell…
